This is an advertisement that is on the internet by Apple trying to persuade all ages to by an ipod. It shows a girl dancing and having a good time with her ipod in her hand and then above her it says, "Join the digital music revolution." This is a form of pathos because this saying is making you feel like an outcast and loser if you dont have an ipod. Nobody wants to be left out so they are going to go buy an ipod or digital music player so they will have the "in" thing and feel like part of the crowd.

This is an add I saw on the internet by adidas. This advertisement is trying to persuade athletes to buy their products. It is using multiple tactics to attract the customer. It uses ethos by showing Gilbert Arenas, who plays in the NBA, to make kids that play basketball that idolize him or want to make it to the NBA think that they will if they use Adidas products. Then it also uses the tactic Slogan with the companys catch phrase, "impossible is nothing." You could also consider this ad using emotionally loaded words such as impossible, and the phrase zero to hero. All of these elements combine to make this a convincing ad that makes the reader think that they can do anything they want to using adidas gear just like Gilbert who went from nobody to one of the best players in the NBA.
This is an advertisment I found on the internet by the cigarette company, Kool, that is directed toward any one over the age of 18 that smokes. This picture shows a man holding a pack of Kool cigarettes in his hand and a woman checking him out. This makes people think that if they smoke these cigarettes they will be considered cool and will help make people think they are attractive. Many people want to be thought of as good looking and cool so it also makes them think that this product will appeal to their wants and needs. This add is a great illustration of a company using pathos to try and persuade you to buy their product.

This is a magazine ad by Gatorade trying to persuade you to buy their product to "quench your thirst." They are trying to attract or apeal to the desires of athletes of different ages. This ad uses many tactics to attract you. One main one it uses is ethos when it says, "it takes something special inside to be like Mike." This is ethos because it is using Michael Jordan, a famous basketball player, to make people want to drink Gatorade so they can be good just like him. They use this tactic for this audience becasue they know that all athletes want to be great and be the best.

Beasts of England

D iction: When I read the speech and looked at the word choice I noticed that it repeated beast multiple times. The words that stood out to me the most though were tyrant, hearken, and toil.
I magry: This speech makes you picture a good, happy, wonderful future. Some of the phrases and words that show this are joyful tidings, golden future, sweeter, and bright will shine.
D etails: It didn't really get very discriptive but it described the environment and some actions. Examples: Cruel whips crack no more. Spur rust forever, golden future, bright will shine the fields, and sweeter will blow the breezes.
L anguage: Words were used to show a bright, happy future but there weren't many long complex word. Some words used to depict a bright, happy future were, bright, purer, sweeter, joyful, golden, and riches.
S entence structure: Each tiny section or paragraph was either a compound - complex or compound sentence. Some of the speech rhymed, such as when it said, "And the harness from our back, Cruel whips no more shall crack."
Overall the tone of this speech was a happy, joyful, and bright future.
